Job Description
Locums First is looking for Nurse Practitioner in Stromness.
This role offers a professionally rewarding mix of autonomous clinics and supported decision-making, within services that have clear triage pathways, good administrative processes and accessible senior input. You will work alongside a stable MDT, helping deliver consistent patient care with appropriate appointment planning and governance.
Flexible sessions available with regular work up to 3 days a week.
Role Snapshot
• Locum NP sessions delivering minor illness care, triage support and same-day access appointments.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess and manage minor illness presentations and provide evidence-based treatment
• Undertake clinical assessment, planning and follow-up with appropriate safety netting
• Prescribe or supply medicines within competence and local policy where applicable
• Support triage processes and allocate patients appropriately across the MDT
• Request and interpret basic investigations and manage results safely
• Maintain accurate documentation and coding in the clinical system
• Work collaboratively with practice teams to support patient flow and access
Requirements
• NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
• Recognised Nurse Practitioner qualification or equivalent competency evidence
• Experience in UK primary care, urgent care or walk-in settings
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and medicines management
• Confident communication skills and ability to work autonomously
• Enhanced DBS and compliance documents available
Working Pattern
• Locum, part-time, temporary or contract options available
• Up to 3 days a week with flexible choice of sessions
• Sessions can be morning, afternoon or full day depending on service model
• Ad hoc shifts and longer blocks both available
