Job Description
Locums First is looking for Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Wylam.
You will join well-run primary care settings with streamlined triage, clear escalation routes and supportive clinical leadership, enabling you to focus on safe, high-quality autonomous practice. Sessions are organised with sensible appointment lengths, strong admin support and access to on-site or remote GP oversight where needed.
Flexible booking available with regular sessions up to 3 days a week.
Role Snapshot
• Locum ANP opportunity supporting same-day demand, minor illness and acute presentations within primary care.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of undifferentiated presentations
• Prescribe independently in line with competence, local protocols and national guidance
• Manage minor illness and minor injuries presentations and refer or escalate appropriately
• Request and interpret investigations and act on results safely and promptly
• Document consultations accurately and code activity appropriately
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacy and wider MDT to support patient flow
• Contribute to clinical governance, safety netting and service improvement where appropriate
Requirements
• Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
• ANP qualification at Masters level or equivalent advanced practice training
• V300 Independent Prescriber qualification
• Proven primary care or urgent care experience managing acute presentations
• Sound knowledge of UK primary care pathways, safeguarding and clinical governance
• Competent with UK clinical systems and accurate clinical coding
• Enhanced DBS and right to work documentation available
Working Pattern
• Locum, part-time, temporary or contract options available
• Sessions offered across weekdays with flexibility on start and finish times
• Up to 3 days a week available, with scope to adjust based on service need and your availability
• Ad hoc cover and ongoing blocks both available
